The Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) , the Global Health Next Generation Network (GHNGN) and Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) share a profound interest in promoting Global Health through international collaboration. All parties are joining forces by organizing a conference that tackles a critical and crosscutting issue: maternal and reproductive health in Arab countries. The goals of the conference are to generate knowledge on maternal health in Arab countries, to provide a platform for young scientists to display their work, and to provide networking opportunities for young researchers with regional and international stakeholders.
The conference will include interactive seminars, poster tours, and documentary visualization. Participants will have the opportunity to talk to other professionals in the field and increase their contacts through effective networking.
The international AGYA conference is a project of the AGYA Working Group Health and Society and is organized in the framework of the 5th Annual conference of Global Health Next Generation Network (GHNGN). The conference is hosted by Saint Joseph University of Beirut in Lebanon.
Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA)
The Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) and at the Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT) in Egypt, was established in 2013. It is the first bilateral young academy worldwide. AGYA promotes research cooperation among outstanding early-career researchers from all disciplines who are affiliated with a research institution in Germany or any Arab country. The academy provides partnership building opportunities and funding to support the innovative projects of its members in various fields of research as well as in science policy and education. More than 50 members—in equal number Arab and German scholars—have been selected to join AGYA since 2013. AGYA is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and various Arab cooperation partners.
